hill taylor : ARTIST STATEMENT 

My work has always involved a great deal of exploration in color, shape, emotion, and imagination. In my experience, emotion is color. Memory is color. Imagination is color. I did not realize this until I was well into adulthood, and since that realization, I have made every effort to express that in my work.

Sometimes, it would seem as though the general public forgets that color is even there. It is an easy thing to take for granted, of course, because for most of us, it is a constant-- like the sun rising and setting. I feel that it is my responsibility as an artist to make certain that I pay attention to the colors around me. Not only does it make the world more enjoyable, but it constantly improves my artist's eye. Few things can inspire true creative emotion for me than color.
